"When I was asked to attend the 2005 Military Workshop, I really didn't
know what to expect or how much I may learn. I have two degrees in photography
and have been taking photographs passionately for the past 20 years. It's a
general assumption in the military that the higher your rank the more knowledge
and experience have; that just isn't true with photography. Therefore, I
entered the workshop skeptical of what I could possibly get out of it."
"Well, to my surprise, it was the most eye opening experience in my entire
photography career. The staff is outstanding and the professional photographers
that share their knowledge were true professionals. What a photographer can get
from the experience is beyond anything they will ever experience in their
career, besides the Syracuse University Military Photojournalism program. The
workshop changed my views of photography. I have become totally obsessed with
taking pictures and training my eye to see images in a different light. My
photography improved tremendously. In the year since the workshop, I have shot
numerous cover stories for All Hands Magazine (The Official Magazine of the
U.S. Navy) and recently selected for the 2006 Syracuse University Military
Photojournalism program. I don't think I could have done it without the
knowledge I gained from the workshop."
"If you are selected for this years Military Workshop, pay attention, it
could very well change your life and how you see, it did for me."

"I attended the DOD Military Photographers Workshop in 2001. It was hands
down the best experience of my military career. The workshop opens your eyes to
a new way of seeing and a new approach to finding yourself as a photographer.
It is much more than a photography workshop. It's a place for military
photographers to grow visually while learning from some of the best editors and
photographers in the world. My mentors at the workshop are my friends and
mentors today. For me, the beauty of the Military Photographers Workshop is
that it never ends."
