Major Beatriz Yarrish graduated from Oak Ridge H.S., in Oak Ridge, Texas and stepped onto the yellow footprints at Parris Island, S.C., July 5, 1992 to earn the title Marine. After completing recruit training Private First Class Yarrish attended Embarkation Specialists School aboard the Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek, Norfolk, Virginia. In December 1992, Private First Class Yarrish’s first duty station was Marine Air Control Squadron 1, Camp Pendleton, California.

In December 1994, Corporal Yarrish transferred to Marine Wings Support Squadron 1, Camp Butler (Okinawa), Japan and served as the embarkation noncommissioned officer.

In July 1996, Sergeant Yarrish attended the Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection and Training Program (BOOST) at the Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island. Upon completion of BOOST, she was accepted to the Marine Enlisted Commissioning and Education Program (MECEP). She attended the University of Houston in Houston, Texas while in the MECEP program.

In December 2000, Staff Sergeant Yarrish graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and was commissioned a second lieutenant.

In March 2001, Second Lieutenant Yarrish attended The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia and in November 2001 attended the Public Affairs Officers course at Ft. Meade, Maryland.

In January 2002, Second Lieutenant Yarrish’s was assigned to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California and served as the community relations officer, media officer and then deputy director.

In January 2004, First Lieutenant Yarrish deployed to Iraq as the media officer for the Combined Joint Task Force -7, in Baghdad, Iraq. While there she served with the Coalition Provisional Authority and in the Coalition Press Information Center.

In September 2004, First Lieutenant Yarrish transferred to the Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona where she served as the Public Affairs Officer.

In December 2007, Captain Yarrish was assigned as the public affairs officer to the 8th Marine Corps District in Fort Worth, Texas.

In July 2010, Major Yarrish was assigned as an instructor at the Defense Information School, in Fort Meade, Maryland.

In January 2012, Major Yarrish took over command of the Marine Detachment, in Fort Meade, Maryland.

Her personal awards include two Joint Service Commendation Medals, Navy Commendation Medal, three Navy Achievement Medals and the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal.
