Jimmie L. Bell is the Director of Staff at the Defense Information School. He assumed this position in March 2007, after serving three years as Deputy Director of Training. In this capacity he oversees all staff actions, quality assurance, command group functions, and he ensures operating policies and procedures are developed and followed. Prior to assuming duties as Director of Staff, he served as Deputy Director of Training; Department Head, Broadcasting and Video Production Department; and Chief of Radio Production Skills.
Mr. Bell retired from active duty in the United States Navy as a Master Chief Journalist in 1996 after serving 23 years. His assignments include Key West, Florida; Lualualei, Hawaii; Diego Garcia; Far East Network, Clark Air Force Base, Republic of the Philippines; Armed Forces Radio and Television Service, Hollywood California; Vicenza, Italy; Bureau of Naval Personnel, Washington, DC, and Naval Media Center, Washington DC. He was also assigned onboard USS Wasp (CVS-18), and USS Forrestal (CV-59).
He is a graduate of the Defense Information School, has a bachelor’s degree from the University of the State of New York, a master’s degree from Marymount University, Arlington, Virginia, and has completed senior executive studies at George Washington University, College of Professional Studies.
